Serengeti Serena Lodge
We are on our 3rd day of Safari, having spent the last two in the Serengeti National Park area. Upon our departure from the Mountain Inn in Moshi, we headed toward Arusha in our 1970’s era green Toyota Land Cruiser, with our safari driver and guide “Matchbox.” Very nice man, mid 50’s, who has been guiding safaris for the past five years. Our safari would last for four days/four nights with day five serving as our return trip. Our first destination was the Lake Manyara area, which took us the better part of the day to get to. Along the way, we pulled over for breaks at a couple of Tourist trap-o-rama type places that pretty much steered you right to the souvenir areas. Since there was a no-barter policy, it wasn’t my kind of place. We arrived to the Lake Manyara park early afternoon and upon arrival, were greeted with numerous wildlife sightings within minutes. Our first sighting including baboons, and from there, was followed by impala, elephants, lions, monkeys, giraffes, zebras, hippos and many types of birds.
